Discontinuation of support for JS SDK
Support for the Mapy.cz JS SDK library will be discontinued. This library is technologically outdated (it was created back in 2006, with the last version released in 2015), it does not meet modern standards, and it is unfortunately not possible to maintain it any longer.
If you haven’t done so already, it is high time to switch to the new Mapy.cz REST API (see below). The alert in the components will soon start to increase and will increasingly limit the use of the old API.
Discontinuation Schedule
- ✓ January 2024 – Information about the discontinuation was published
- ✓ Spring 2024 – Discontinuation information appeared in the developer console
- ✓ September 2024 – A warning about the end of support began to appear on the map and in other JS components – in a small format that does not significantly impact end users
- Fall/Winter 2024 – The alert in the components will gradually be enlarged
- Early 2025 – The alert in the components will be larger, and end users will have to interact with it (e.g., close it).
- End of 2025 – The components will stop working
The schedule is tentative
Currently
Currently, the discontinuation information is already displayed not only to developers but also to regular users of your application. This warning appears in the map and other components.
And since spring 2024, this alert has been displayed in the browser’s developer console:
Switch to Mapy.cz REST API
The REST API Mapy.cz was released in the summer of 2023 and serves as a successor to the JS SDK. We will continue to develop and support this solution. It is no longer about JavaScript components, but about a data REST API. Therefore, it can be used not only on the web but also in mobile, desktop, or server applications.
Read the recommended procedure for transitioning to the new REST API.
And if you have any doubts, do not hesitate to contact us, we will be happy to advise you on the transition to the new version.
